History and heritage :

The Bois-Francs region in the heart of Québec owes its name to the hardwood trees such as the maple and oak that cover its territory. Occupied only since 1825, it has all the spunk and energy of its youthfulness. Home of creators, the region has given the nation a Prime Minister (Sir Wilfrid Laurier), a botanist (Brother Marie-Victorin), painters and sculptors (Suzor-Coté, Alfred Laliberté, Philippe Hébert), pioneers in recycling (the Lemaire brothers), and numerous leaders in industry.

This milk-producing region boasts the largest dairy farm in Canada and numerous cheese producers are found here. The region is also known as the province cranberry champion.

Architecturally speaking, this is Louis Caron country. His churches and houses embellish the region.
